Here is where we add a top tip or unique feature of your business!
Oasis, Stereophonics, Muse, Keith Flint (The Prodigy) and Bloc Party have each performed here at one point or another; as a venue, it's perfect for breaking new and exciting bands (Shed Seven are probably the best example from the place's storied history).
No band starting off in York (or, for that matter elsewhere around the country) can really afford to miss a stop-off at Fibbers, and there will always be a queue of international artists waiting to perform to sell-out crowds or, who are interested in coming back to perform to York's passionate and sweaty crowds, whether they be fans of dubstep, drum 'n' bass, electronica, indie, metal or rock.
Fibbers is probably our favourite student destination; it's nice and central for York St John and York University and since the 2010 re-vamp from proper rock (specific to harder and heavier music acts) venue to posh club (which now takes on rock bands, as well as acclaimed electronic DJs and even, on the occasion, fire-breathing scantily clad dancing women and magicians – if that's your thing then check the official Facebook page for evidence). Oh yes, it's open until around 4am as well, pretty much every night of the week, which gives it a vibrant feeling that arguably cannot be rivalled in the city, or anywhere on the outskirts.
Fibbers' great history, coupled with its new modern look make it the ideal place to bring friends, relatives, work-mates, dates and fellow students for a grand night out that no matter how much alcohol you may or may not consume, you will not forget in a hurry. With a revised stage position, new PA, improved sight-lines and increased capacity, there's no better live entertainment centre in York; this place can bring the raucous party when required, but it also oozes a underlying sense of sophistication and quality.
It is worth noting that if you're interested in going to a show at Fibbers, the lower age limit is 14+ and but you'll need to make sure ID is provided. Access to the venue is fairly easy - there are just a couple of steps down at the entrance and then another two up from the dance-floor to the bar, and considering how busy it always is in there (particularly on an Up The Racket indie Friday or Stone Love 90s Britpop-flavoured Saturday, with 1.80 drinks all night!), the staff have always been friendly and approachable in our experience.
