Step into York Distillery, located inside the elegant grounds of Middleton’s Hotel within York’s historic city walls, for an engaging Gin Tasting experience. Begin with a carefully poured York G&T on arrival, featuring their gold award-winning London Dry gin with Fever-Tree Light tonic or lemonade.
Guided by a knowledgeable York Gin expert, taste up to five other award-winning gins while learning valuable tasting tips. Explore the rich history of gin, including its glamorous highs, darker moments, and connections to York’s own past.
York holds a reputation as one of Europe’s most haunted cities. Discover stories of Guy Fawkes’ Gunpowder Plot and highwayman Dick Turpin, and how these legends relate to the spirits you sample. Each gin reflects a chapter of York’s history, from Georgian elegance to Victorian intrigue.
The tasting includes a small selection of nibbles and concludes with a second full-sized G&T featuring your favorite gin from the session. Guests also benefit from a 10% discount on any purchases made that night.
The event takes place in a speakeasy-style venue designed for intimacy and enjoyment, ideal for couples, friends, or small groups of up to 28 guests. Sessions are typically held daily at 4pm, with other times available on request.
