Castle Howard is an Eighteenth Century Stately home that has been occupied by the Howard family for over 300 years. This beautiful House and gardens took more than 100 years to complete. The magnificent house is surrounded by 1000 acres of landscaped gardens which include the Great Lake, temples monuments and Mausoleums.
A great day out for the whole family can be enjoyed at Castle Howard. As well as viewing the house itself with the opulant interiors and helpful guides, you can also explore the landscaped gardens which include grassed terraces, rose gardens, lakeside and woodland walks as well as a childrens adventure playground. In addition there is plenty of places to eat and shop.
There are tea rooms and cafes located throughout the grounds where you can grab a snack and a drink or there is a fully licensed bistro style restaurant which uses locally sourced produce and meat from the estates farm shop.
There is also a very popular garden centre which can be accessed without patying the entrance fee to the House and Gardens.
