May is a great time to visit the North Yorkshire Moors railway and take part in their Spring steam Gala which is held on 4-7 May and 11-17 May

A massive Youth football Gala is to be held on the knavesmire on 6th May as part of the York 800 celebrations.

North Yorkshire Moors Railway

The North Yorkshire Moors Railway owns and operates 18 miles of preserved railway between Pickering and Grosmont, situated in the heart of the North York 

Moors National Park. 

The line was once part of the national network, until its closure in 1965. It has been run as a preserved line since the mid 1970s and is now a tourist attraction, heritage 

steam railway and accredited museum.

Hamilton Panthers Annual Gala Day

The Hamilton Panthers Annual Gala Day is a very popular event for young footballers and their families, attracting teams from all over the UK. This year there will be competitions for under 7s, under 8s, under 9s and under 10s as well as lots of other fun events for the whole family to enjoy. The event will be held on the little Knavesmire next to York racecourse. More information will be available soon.
